PRACTICAL PORTFOLIO
"Crying is uncomfortable, it's the thing you're never meant to do. It's a removal, a dropping of the guard that men are taught to maintain. In creating an emotional opening, you betray the image you cultivate as a man. It's a release that doesn't come easy, but needs to be accepted all the same. Either way I hate that shit, I don't think I ever won't." - Griffin

"I've been conditioned not to cry to the extent I physically cant bring myself to tears even when I need to cry..." - Sikhalo
|
"To cry in public for me is almost impossible. I find even in my most emotional points, my feelings are sent towards one direction rather than given the freedom to express them." - Theo
|
"Most men are embarrased if they cry, but I think crying is a natural part of being human. I personally really struggle to cry, and havent cried in a several years, and I feel kind of embarrassed about that. Its important to express emotions instead of keeping them hidden." - Charlie

For next development I want to take the idea of the 'Dear Future Daughter' article and ask people what they would tell their future child. In order to get a variety of responses I created an online survey on Survery Monkey and sent it to a number of individuals aged 16-25. I asked them to simply tell me what they will or would want to tell to a child of their own. Below are some of the responses. |
